PennDOT To Address West Chester Pike 'Bumpout' Concerns

Newtown Township officials said PennDOT will make revisions to the new curb line to make it farther from the traffic lane.

The Township is aware of the issue regarding the median “bump out” at West Chester Pike and Boot Road. Our Township Engineer reached out to PennDOT’s project engineer last week about this issue. This is a state road and a state-controlled project. However, all traffic and safety issues are of concern to the Township. The Township understands that warning markers have already been placed at the curb location.

PennDOT’s traffic engineer for the project has also advised that temporary striping will be added in the meantime, while further revisions will be made to the new curb line to make it farther from the traffic lane.
