PennDOT Work Affecting Marple, Newtown Traffic This Week

U.S. 1, Lawrence Road, Bryn Mawr Avenue, and more road in the townships will be impacted by PennDOT work this week.

MARPLE-NEWTOWN, PA — Various PennDOT projects will impact traffic on Marple and Newtown roads this week.

Below is the week's work schedule.

From 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Monday through Friday this week, crack sealing work will affect traffic on:

  • U.S. 1 (Media Bypass/State Road/Township Line Road/City Avenue) between Baltimore Pike and the Delaware County line in Middletown, Upper Providence, Marple, Springfield, Upper Darby, and Haverford townships, Delaware County;
  • and Lawrence Road between Route 320 (Sproul Road) and Route 3 (West Chester Pike) in Marple Township, Delaware County.

Additionally, a lane closure is scheduled on St. Davids Road between Church Road and the Route 252 (Darby Paoli Road) Interchange in Newtown and Radnor townships for base repair.

The lane will be closed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning Monday.

And from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, St. Davids Road is scheduled to close between Mason’s Way and Church Road in Radnor and Newtown townships for tree removal.

Motorists are directed to use Newtown Street, Waterloo Road, and Church Road. Local access will be maintained; and

Lastly, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning Wednesday and Thursday, a lane closure is scheduled on Bryn Mawr Avenue between Route 3 (West Chester Pike) and the Bryn Mawr Avenue bridge over Darby Creek in Newtown and Radnor townships for paving.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays may occur.
