Progressive Thinking

As I have previously stated, I feel that the sole purpose of a government entity is to provide services for the common good of the residents. I have also spoken of televised public meetings as a form of service to the public.

In this same vein, while I have attended many public meetings, for example the recent Commercial Residential (CR) Rezoning meeting; many residents in attendance complained of not being able to see or hear the proceedings. Wouldn’t you think by now, that Newtown Township would have an audio/visual system installed so that those in attendance, especially in the back of the room could participate?

Presenters (e.g. Developers) should be required to have their presentations on Power Point so that the Supervisors and the public can all see the presentation projected on flat screen monitors. As it is now, if a presentation is being made to the Supervisors it is difficult or impossible to be seen by the residents.

The meetings are also “taped” to the best of my knowledge. Why are we not digitally recording all public meetings so that they could be uploaded to the Township web site? Digital audio files should be provide free of charge to residents.

If elected, I would proffer that by declining the $20,000/year health benefits for me and my family, the township could use this savings for the benefit of all of the residents of Newtown Township.
