Riddle Hospital EMS, Newtown Police And Fire Departments Recognized For Saving Young Boy's Life

After suffering cardiac arrest, Three-year-old Luke McCabe made a full recovery thanks to quick work from local emergency responders.

The Newtown Square Fire Company along with the Newtown Township Police Department and Riddle Hospital EMS were presented the Life Saving Award after giving critical aid to a young boy who suffered an acute cardiac arrest in December.

Then two-year-old Luke McCabe suffered the medical emergency and recently celebrated his third birthday after spending six weeks in the hospital.

Luke was presented Monday with a set of turnout gear and a certificate as an honorary Newtown Square Fire Company firefighter, the fire company said.

Among responders who were awarded were Newtown Square Fire Company Fire Chief Doug Everlof, A/C Brian McNeill Jr., firefighter Anthony DiMauro, firefighter Matt Brinkmann, Newtown Township Police Department Sgt. Brian McNeill Sr., Det. John Newell, Riddle EMS A/C Eugene Smith, Paramedic Katelyn Gallagher, EMT Dan Caldwell, and Delaware County 911 Dispatcher Larry O'Connor.
