Marple First Responders Face Off in 'Scoop Off'
The Marple Township Ambulance Corps and Broomall Fire Co. held a friendly fundraising competition at Rita's Water Ice in Broomall on Aug. 8.
BROOMALL–Dozens of first responders from the and came out for the first annual "Scoop-Off Fundraiser" Wednesday night at in Broomall.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., members of the emergency response teams competed for customers at different windows.
As part of the fundraiser, each side earns a percentage of their register's profits. In addition, the side that raises the most money wins "The Golden Spoon" and bragging rights until next summer's event.

Marple EMS out-scooped the fire company to win the inaugural Scoop-Off Fundraiser, and Rita's donated $500 to each side for their fundraising efforts.
Tons of friends and family members showed up to support the cause and enjoyed some refreshing frozen treats. For the youngsters, Rita's also offered a face-painting station and "Spin the Wheel" raffle.

"This is a great event because it brings the ambulance corps and fire company together for a common cause," said Marple Township Ambulance Corps Assistant Chief Heather Robinson.
