School District Lieutenant Honored by Board Members, Retires
Lt. Anthony Caso was recognized by school officials Feb. 22 for his 30 years of service to the Marple Newtown School District.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–After 30 years of service protecting the students and staff throughout the , Lt. Anthony Caso was well wished by school board members Feb. 22 on his retirement as well as commended for his many years of dedication to the district.
"I'll miss the students and the staff the most," said Caso about what the hardest part of leaving would be.
Caso, 61, was hired in 1981 as a Sargent with the Marple Newtown School District police force. At that time, the department consisted of four officers in total.

"Over the years, Tony has performed his duties with the greatest regard for the law, the school district, the students and the staff," said Edward Partridge, school board member.
"Tony can always be counted on to keep our school district safe," continued Partridge. "For 30 years, he's dedicated his life for the safety and security of our students, staff and the MarpleNewtown School District community.

According to Partridge, Caso was a big element in keeping the local schools safe for "such actions as stopping vandals at Russell Elementary School, facilitating the arrest of perpetrators that severely beat a student at the high school as well as many other commendations over the years."
In April of 2005, Caso was promoted to the position of Lieutenant for the school district. And when the department reorganized in 2008, Caso became head of security.
Although he dedicated his life to his job, Caso believes it was more than just a job.
"The greatest joy of the job was the positive impact that it had on people," said Caso. "It was a fantastic experience that many school districts don't have the opportunity to have."
On behalf of the district, Caso received an award of recognition by the school board as well as gift certificates.
Caso, an avid blues musician and harmonica player, said he's looking forward to spending more time playing music and relaxing with his wife. But it won't be too long before Caso looks for another part-time security position. It's just who he is.
