DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Delaware County is still seeing more coronavirus cases, but at a much lower rate than in April and July when cases spiked.

According to the latest date from Chester County, 10,588 people in Delaware County have been infected with the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.

Of those cases, 2,663 have been nursing home or long term care facility residents.

Below is a breakdown of Delaware County coronavirus case counts by age group:

  • 10 and under — 170
  • 10 to 19 — 687
  • 20 to 29 — 1,812
  • 30 to 39 — 1,456
  • 40 to 49 — 1,389
  • 50 to 59 — 1,649
  • 60 to 69 —1,3030
  • 70 to 79 — 818
  • 80 and older — 1,276

Currently, 29 of the 62 nursing and long term care facilities in the county have active outbreaks of the virus.

Nursing home and long term care facility residents make up most of the coronavirus-related deaths in Delco. Of the 777 total deaths, 604 have been nursing home or long term care facility residents.

Below are age demographics for nursing home and long term care facility deaths:

  • Under 60 — 13
  • 60 to 69 — 52
  • 70 to 79 — 128
  • 80 to 89 — 215
  • 90 to 99 — 172
  • 100 and older — 24

Of those deaths, 57.78 percent have been women and 42.22 have been men.

As of Friday, Delaware County has an 80.76 percent recovery rate and has gotten 156,436 negative test results back.
