Summer Music Camp Comes to Marple Presbyterian Church
WHEN: August 10-14, 2015 TIME: 9am-3pm AGES: 3 years thru 5th Grade
The Spirit of the Arts Academy at Marple Presbyterian Church hosts its first annual Summer Music Camp. Children will learn general music basics like reading and writing music, the basics of singing, and moving to music, as well as playing percussion instruments and handbells. Come out for fun worksheets, creative musical crafts, and to learn about famous composers. Growing in Grace is a comprehensive, scripturally-based music curriculum engaging multiple learning styles, developed by proven educators and children’s choir experts.
Music is the most natural mode of learning and expression for children. Research shows that music education makes the brain work harder, encourages language development, improves spatial-temporal skills, test scores and even increases IQ! Cost is $350 for the first child; $325 for siblings. Class will be held in the Choir Room of Marple Presbyterian Church at 105 N. Sproul Road, Broomall, PA. Please bring a packed lunch. Peanut-free snacks will be provided.
Our Teachers: Brian Walsh holds a Master’s of Education from Cabrini College and a degree in Theatre from Kutztown University. He has been directing children for the past 8 years at many theaters and schools around Delaware County, including Upper Darby Summer Stage and Players Club of Swarthmore.
Susan Guyer studied vocal performance at West Chester University and is currently music director at Marple Presbyterian Church, teaches voice and piano, has two professionally recorded CDs and is active on and off stage at a number of local theaters.
