Newtown Township Supervisor Health Insurance compensation has been a local bone of contention for many years.
Some Newtown Township Supervisors have been taking advantage of paid health insurance benefits for themselves and family members; even though they are elected, part time officials of the township. This form of compensation is better suited to full time employees. Many employers offer some type of health benefit package; whether it is by offsetting the full premium and offering a deductible and co-pay, or something in between. Newtown Township I am led to believe, has no deductible or co-pay.
I believe that this is an additional tax burden that the township residents should not bear. I am not aware of other local governments in our area that offer this benefit to their officials as a fully paid benefit.

Since this outlay of your tax dollars would be better suited for other purposes, I will not accept any health benefits from the township if elected. I would also sponsor a resolution that this benefit not be offered to any elected township official.
