Teenage Main Line Bassist To Play On NPR Program March 25

Eighteen-year-old William McGregor will be heard on NPR's "From the Top" program on Sunday, March 25. Tune in to hear his classical chops.

A Main Line teenager who is a wiz with a double bass will be heard on an NPR classical music program later this month, so get your radio dials set.

William McGregor, 18, of Malvern, recorded an episode of NPR's "From the Top" program at New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall in Boston on February 11.

And the episode will air at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 25 on WRTI 90.1 FM. It will also be available in podcast form on March 19 online here.

Williams will be heard performing the first and second movements from the Concerto for Double Bass no. 2 by Giovanni Bottesini.

William studies double bass at the Juilliard Pre-College Division with Albert Laszlo. He is a senior in the University Scholars Program of the PA Leadership Charter School.

He was the Gold Medal winner of the 2017 Stulberg International String Competition in May 2017, as well as a 2017 National Young Arts Foundation Finalist.

He has performed in master classes with Edgar Meyer, Harold Robinson, John Kendall and many others. His hobbies include all sports (especially Detroit Tigers baseball and Michigan basketball), collecting baseball cards, and singing.

Teens from Illinois, Massachusetts, and California will all be heard on the program, as well.
