Temporary Traffic-Calming Features Coming To St Albans Circle

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — Newtown Township, with help from Gather in the Circle and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission's EXPO program, is implementing a pilot program for traffic-calming concepts at St. Albans Circle.

From Monday, Oct. 18 through mid-November, the pilot will test out various traffic-calming ideas at the roundabout.

Concepts being piloted at the roundabout through November include speed bumps and bollards.

Overall, the pilot intends to make the circle safer for all and more pedestrian-friendly by slowing auto traffic and creating new pedestrian connections.

To enter the circle, drivers will need to slow to a safe speed, but all entrances, exits, and business driveways on the circle will remain open.

To allow for wintertime snow removal, the bollards and speed bumps are planned for removal at the end of the pilot demonstration.

This winter, Newtown Township will evaluate the pilot and plan out the next steps to make St. Albans Circle safer.
