Township Of Newtown: 2021 Budget Award

We are proud to announce that our Finance Department has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its 2021 budget.  The award represents a significant achievement for Newtown Township and reflects our commitment to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, the Finance Department had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, which are designed to assess how well our budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.  Last year only 20 governmental organizations in Pennsylvania received this award; Newtown Township was the only one in Delaware County.  This is the second year in a row the Township applied and received this award!

Congratulations to Finance Director Richard Lafiata and his team who worked very hard to improve budget awareness and transparency.  Their efforts have greatly improved the Township’s budget documentation over the last 5 years and this award reflects their hard work.
