Understanding Islam: A Primer



With 1.6 billion adherents worldwide, Islam is the world’s second largest religion, as well as the fastest growing religion. But it is still one of the least understood faiths among Christians. Even if we don’t quite understand everything about Judaism, we think we sort of get it because of how closely connected Christianinty is to it’s parent faith. (Whether we do or not is an entirley different question!) But we have a much lesser understanding of Islam, the third of the great monotheistic faiths in the tradition of Abraham. Fr. Ryan studied Islam in undergraduate college at Wake Forest University, and has traveled in Jerusalem, a city holy to all three faiths. Over the course of four weeks, he will offer insights into this fascinating faith, and you will begin to see that we’re more closely related than perhaps you at first believed.
