Whole Foods Announces Opening Date For Newtown Square Store
An opening date has been set for the long-awaited Whole Foods Market in Newtown Square's Ellis Preserve.

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA – Finally, an opening date has been set for the Whole Foods Market in Newtown Square's Ellis Preserve.
Whole Foods officials said the new store will open at 9 a.m. on Friday, Jan 18.
Located at 3737 West Chester Pike, the new store is 51,000 square feet and will have fresh produce, a full-service butcher, an in-house bakery, a pub, specialty foods, seafood, beers and wines, hot and cold food bars, and all the other offerings expected at the popular grocer.

Regular hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
Opening day celebrations include complimentary coffee from One Village and breakfast pastries starting at 8 a.m. The first 200 customers through the doors will get a Whole Foods Market gift card with a mystery value ranging between $5 and $100.

"From the grocery shopping experience to the unique dining options, the store we have created for Newtown Square is something truly special," said John Frei, Store Team Leader. "We are looking forward to serving our customers and becoming a part of this great community."
To celebrate joining the community, 5 percent of the store’s net sales on Thursday, Jan. 24 will go to Marple Newtown School District's Black and Orange Fund, which gives back to the school community through several avenues, including support to student programs, booster clubs and organizations, and scholarships.
The store will also feature a pub called the Darby Creek Cafe, which will offer 12 local beers on tap, a curated selection of wine and sherry-based cocktails, as well as a pub-inspired food menu. The cafe is Open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
About 160 full and part-time workers will be employed at the new store, as well.
The Newtown Square Whole Foods Market is one of 14 stores in the greater Philadelphia area.
