Entrants are asked not to submit photos of illegal dumping.

"We know there are plenty of instances out there of bags of trash, furniture, tires, or appliances dumped in the woods and along highways and waterways rather than being disposed of properly," the Pennsylvania Resource Council said. "However, the goal of the Lens on Litter Photo Contest is to highlight the careless and illegal act of littering in order to change individual behavior."

Entrants are also encouraged to coordinate a clean-up of the subject area and provide a photo of the results of your efforts.

You can enter by sending submissions to PRC/Lens on Litter, 3606 Providence Road Newtown Square, PA 19073 or submit high resolution photos via email to lensonlitter@prc.org, and should include all required information listed above.

Entries must be submitted by Oct. 31, 2017.

Since 1984 PRC has invited all Pennsylvanians to call attention to the litter problem in communities across the Commonwealth through the Lens on Litter Photo Contest.

Since the inception of the Contest, over 4,000 photos have been submitted over the years and comprise a "Rogue’s Galley" of the Litterbug at work.

These photos show us how much work there is to be done to combating the litter problem.

From our parks and playgrounds, to our neighborhoods streets and farms, litter is an issue that we all face.
