3. Portion of Mt. Royal Boulevard to close for Shaler Area homecoming parade (triblive.com) — Drivers from Mars should plan ahead for Shaler Area's homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 3, when Mt. Royal Boulevard will be closed between Vilsack/Kleber and Wetzel from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The parade starts at 10:30 a.m., with recommended parking at Kiwanis Park and a shuttle, and the homecoming football game against Mars Area kicks off at 1:30 p.m. at Titan Stadium.
4. Butler County schools lift lockdowns after 'swatting' incident, threat determined not credible (wpxi.com) — Lockdowns at Mars and other Butler County schools have been lifted after police determined a reported armed threat was a swatting incident and not credible. State Police and local officers secured campuses, found no active danger, and are now investigating who made the false calls, while parents are urged to stay off school phone lines during such emergencies.
5. Mars girls soccer, led by Miley Gratton's goal and assist, shows the fire in rematch vs Knoch (butlereagle.com) — Mars girls soccer earned a 2-0 home win over Knoch, with junior forward Miley Gratton scoring once and assisting another at the Mars Athletic Complex. The young Planets squad dominated possession, allowed just one shot on goal, and now turns attention to Monday's road match at Blackhawk, as they continue a strong season for Mars fans to follow.
