📰 News we're reading

• Incident Blotter 9-28-26 (crimewatchpa.com) — Mechanicsburg police responded to dozens of calls between Sept. 25 and 27, ranging from noise complaints and school-related juvenile issues to hit-and-run crashes, intoxicated individuals, and suspicious activity around Memorial Park and Main Street. Officers also managed Fall Fest traffic and parking, assisted EMS and fire crews, and conducted numerous traffic stops and extra patrols throughout borough neighborhoods and school zones.

• Libby Olivetti, Mechanicsburg field hockey win physical battle with Cumberland Valley (pennlive.com) — Mechanicsburg field hockey fans just saw a big home win, as the Wildcats exploded for three fourth-quarter goals to beat Cumberland Valley 5-2 on Monday. • 14 Abandoned American Theme Parks and Exactly What Closed Each One (discoverwildscience.com) — One of the most striking stories in this rundown of abandoned theme parks is Mechanicsburg's own Williams Grove Amusement Park, which operated from 1850 until insurance costs forced its closure in 2005. The piece explains how soaring liability premiums, not a lack of visitors, doomed Williams Grove and many other parks, and why beloved rides like the Cyclone coaster ultimately disappeared.
