2 More Coronavirus Deaths Reported In Delaware County

The new coronavirus has now caused four deaths in Delaware County. They are in Ridley Park and Marple, Middletown and Ridley townships.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Two more new coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in Delaware County, officials said.

Officials said Friday that a 70-year-old woman from Ridley Township and a 63-year-pld man from Middletown Township died from the coronavirus, known as COVID-19.

Two others, an 85- year- old male from Ridley Park and an 86-year-old woman from Marple Township, have died from the virus.

"Delaware County Council extends its deepest condolences to their families. As we as a community combat this pandemic together, this loss affects all of us and we are deeply saddened by the news," county officials said in a statement.

As of 1 p.m. Friday, Delaware County has 190 cases of the virus. The county has received 1,530 negative test results to date.

The highest concentration of cases is in Upper Darby, where there are 27 cases.

Delaware County Council continues to urge residents to follow Governor Wolf’s Stay at Home Order, which will help prevent the spread of the virus and protect our community.

The order took effect on Monday, March 23 and will continue until April 6. Individuals may leave their residence only to perform allowable individual activities and allowable essential travel.
