Media Santa Parade Could Be Revived, But Organizers Say Donations Are Needed

A GoFundMe has been made for parade costs, which would revive the volunteer-run holiday tradition that was set to be discontinued.

MEDIA, PA — The Media Santa Parade could be revived, but organizers say they'll need some Christmas spirit in the summertime to make it happen.

The Santa Parade, which also featured a fun run and block party, kicked off Media's holiday season for over a decade. A team of four volunteers has been organizing the event, which is funded by sponsorships and donations.

In June, the Parade Committee announced that the event would be retired because of rising costs. But an outpouring of support got the committee to reconsider. Related: Christmas Event In Media Canceled Due To Rising Costs, Lack Of Funding

The Media Santa Parade Committee has since grown. But organizers say they'll need some additional funding to revive the parade, which brings thousands of people to State Street each year.

A GoFundMe has been established to cover those costs. A total of $419 has been raised toward the $5,000 goal as of this writing.

"Together, we're working hard to secure the funding needed to move forward with planning," the GoFundMe says. "But we still have quite a way to go. We need the support of both our community and local businesses to make the magic happen."
