MEDIA, PA — Delaware County will mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with its annual Day of Remembrance Ceremony on Friday at Rose Tree Park.
The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the Law Enforcement Memorial at Rose Tree Park (1671 N Providence Road, Media). It is expected to last about an hour and is open to the public.
All Delco residents are encouraged to attend.
The ceremony will honor the nearly 3,000 people killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and remember the lasting impact that 9/11 had on the Delco community.
The County will also pay tribute to local first responders who have died in the line of duty and recognize firefighters, emergency medical personnel, law enforcement officers, military members and veterans who continue to serve their communities.
Scheduled speakers include Delaware County Council Chair Richard Womack, Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse, State Rep. Jennifer O'Mara and State Sens. Anthony Hardy Williams and Tim Kearney. Most members of Delco's delegation to the Pennsylvania Legislature are expected to attend.
The ceremony will include a presentation of the colors by the Delaware County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard and the laying of wreaths at the Law Enforcement Memorial.
