This year, Maris Grove, an Erickson Senior Living community in the Brandywine Valley of Pennsylvania, celebrates a major milestone--20 years of vibrant retirement living, meaningful connections, and continued growth.

"Twenty years is a tremendous milestone to celebrate," says Sales Director Brett Haas. "Now, close to two thousand residents enjoy the friendly culture that has evolved since Maris Grove opened."

Impressive growth

Construction began on the 87-acre community soon after the official groundbreaking in September 2005. In October 2006, Maris Grove opened to much excitement.

Over the years, the community has expanded and adapted to meet the needs and preferences of today's retirees. Enhancements have included updated dining venues, expanded fitness spaces, and new opportunities for social engagement.

Now, Maris Grove boasts a fitness and aquatics center, performing arts center, woodshop, salon and spa, library, on-site medical center, art studios, and much more.

Built on relationships

While beautiful residences, amenities, and services help define the Maris Grove experience, community leaders say it is the people who truly make the difference.

"That partnership between staff and residents is a major reason why more and more people are moving here and living their best lives," says Haas.

"What truly keeps Maris Grove dynamic is its people--residents and team members alike--whose pride, care, and sense of community are felt the moment you walk in," adds Sales Counselor Caroline Bickel.

Residents echo that sentiment. "I've been so pleased to call Maris Grove home for seven years now," says Joy Anderson. "I feel that they've given us a gift to prolong our lives. They have everything here you could ever want to stay active and involved."

Joy says the community's close-knit atmosphere has made a lasting impression on her.

"I am blessed to live on a floor in Aspen Square full of wonderful, kind, loving people," she says.

Guiding voices

That spirit of connection has helped shape Maris Grove from the beginning and continues to influence how the community evolves today.

"Whether it is physical improvements, new buildings, or evolving programs, we rely on the residents' input to guide decision making," Haas explains.

As retirement expectations have changed over the past 20 years, Maris Grove has continued to evolve alongside them. "Maris Grove has adapted well to today's retirees by focusing on lifestyle, wellness, and choice," says Bickel. "The emphasis on engaging amenities and flexible living resonates strongly with both long-time residents and newer ones."

Dining is one of the clearest examples of how that evolution has taken shape for residents.

From diverse menus and special dining events to multiple restaurant venues and flexible options, dining at Maris Grove continues to reflect residents' changing tastes and preferences.

A true partnership

Another key to the community's continued success has been open communication.

"Communication is critical," Haas says. "From Executive Director Chad Couture's weekly 'Tuesday at 10' TV show to our Town Halls and partnership with our Resident Advisory Council, we want to be sure every resident has access to information and the 'why' behind our decision-making when processes evolve."

The transparency and collaboration help foster trust and create a culture where residents feel heard and valued, Haas says.

Looking ahead

While the anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect on the past, it also marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

"We continue to develop and grow," says Haas. "I am energized by the new possibilities that residents and team members will help us accomplish."

Future innovations may include continued technological advancements, creative programming, and new ways to enhance the resident experience, all while staying true to the values that have guided the community for the past 20 years.

"We truly strive to listen first," Haas says. "We will always try to come to a beneficial solution."

That forward-thinking mindset, combined with a strong foundation of service and community, positions Maris Grove well for the future.

"Reaching 20 years is special because it reflects the strength, reputation, and consistency Maris Grove has built over time," says Bickel. "Looking ahead, I'm excited to continue welcoming new residents while honoring the strong foundation that's been built over the past 20 years."
