Authors visit Media Elemenary School

"Pete the Cat"

“Pete the Cat” author Kimberley Dean and husband/illustrator James Dean, visited Media Elementary to share their love of reading, writing and art with primary students.

The success this couple has enjoyed is most likely due to the way they approach creating “Pete the Cat” books. Kimberly says, “children like to use their imagination, and like adults, look for ways to understand each other.” James says that, “children’s books should appeal not only to children, but adults as well. Grown-ups like Pete, and they want to have fun, too.”

Students enjoyed listening to the latest book in the series, Pete The Cat and the Missing Cupcakes. Kimberly and James then talked about the importance of reading and writing and art in their lives. The message of the books, encouraging readers to keep their cool when facing challenges, is one that the writing/illustrating team enjoyed sharing with Media students!
