Benchmark School Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony on March 16 for State-of-the-Art Innovation Space
MEDIA, Pa. (March 23, 2018) – After years of planning, Benchmark School was excited on March 16 to break ground on the construction of the school’s $2 million Innovation Space, a state-of-the-art facility that will expand Benchmark’s mission to help bright students who have yet to reach their academic potential become confident and strategic thinkers and learners.
Donned in hard hats and holding small shovels, the school’s 182 students and staff were joined at the groundbreaking by members of the Benchmark School Board of Trustees, Pennsylvania State Senator Thomas McGarrigle, Chairman of Upper Providence Commissioners Tim Broadhurst, Delaware County Councilman Kevin Madden, and representatives from W.S. Cumby Builders & Construction Managers, Northstar Owners Representation, and Cicada Architects.
The Benchmark School Innovation Space—set to open in September 2018—will provide an ideal environment for the creative, hands-on, inquiry-based activities that will encourage Benchmark students to realize new strengths and unlock their potential. It is one of the first grades 1-8 schools in the region to construct a facility that is designed specifically for a hands-on, design-thinking curriculum.
