Genuardi's Assists with Miracles
Genuardi's Assists with Miracles...The inspiring, talented performance troupe.

Recently, The Genuardi’s Employees Foundation awarded a grant of $2,500 to The Media Theatre’s State Street Miracles, which will be utilized to assist with costs related to program tuition, materials and professional services.
The State Street Miracles, comprised currently of 12 individuals, is a performance troupe of adults with developmental disabilities. The group sings Broadway and popular songs. They have performed at Delaware County’s Summer Festival held in Rose Tree Park, The Media Rotary Club, Special Olympics, The Buddy Walk, and for Delaware County Council. In March of 2008 the group traveled to Harrisburg where they were honored on the Senate Floor of the Pennsylvania State Capitol during "Developmental Disabilities Month."

Genuardi’s Employees Foundation is a charitable organization funded entirely through employees’ voluntary payroll contributions. It serves to support local non-profit organizations in four key areas: hunger relief, education, special needs and health and human services. Since 2004, the Foundation has awarded $156,000 to more than 50 non-profit groups throughout its marketing areas.
With this gift, Genuardi's Employees Foundation is, in itself, a miracle. In tough economic times for any group of people to come together to lend a helping hand is a terrific example to follow. The State Street Miracles often sing "Lean On Me" and will now, forevermore, connect that song to Genuardi's.

The State Street Miracles are often referred to as a 'performance troupe of adults with developmental disabilities.' But the act of performing in front of crowds ranging all the way up to 2,000 people at a time is certainly an ABILITY, nothing to shy away from nor to keep one's head looking downward. The Miracles are truly the epitome of consistently looking skyward, with eyes on the prize! Genuardi's gift was a step on their ladder to greater things.
As someone who works with The Miracles, I applaud their skill, their dignity, and their ability to put a smile on anyone's face no matter what you may be going through. There are more Miracles appearances coming up, and you can find out about them at mediatheatre.org.
