CASA Youth Advocates Recruits Volunteers
Organization seeks volunteer court appointed special advocates to champion kids in Delaware and Chester counties' foster care systems

MEDIA, PA, January 29, 2018 – CASA Youth Advocates, a nonprofit that recruits, trains and supports volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Delaware and Chester counties, is now accepting applicants for its March 2018 training session. CASA seeks dedicated individuals who are willing to journey with a child and help them navigate the Delaware County or Chester County Dependency Court System.
After completing 35 hours of training over the course of about two months, each volunteer will take an oath administered by the Dependency Court judge. They will then become eligible to review and monitor the case of a child or youth experiencing abuse or neglect. Volunteers are assigned a child to walk alongside with the responsibility of helping build trust, investigating his or her case, observing, analyzing and developing relationships to discern and champion the best interests of the child and then advocating for what is best through written reports and verbal recommendations to the judge.
Volunteering with CASA can be a rewarding experience for both the child and volunteer. While volunteers only have to commit to visiting their child one time per month, many often find themselves wanting to spend more time with their assigned child as the relationship develops and grows. Each case is different, each child is different, and for that reason, some volunteers even find themselves committing year after year. Most recently, CASA awarded a volunteer for reaching the 20-year mark.
