Cop Cars, Personal Vehicle Erupt In Flames After Delco Highway Crash

Chester City Police said two of its police cruisers and a personal vehicle caught fire after the cruisers were struck on Interstate 95.

CHESTER, PA — A crash on Interstate 95 south in Delaware County led to three vehicles, two of which were police vehicles, to catch fire Saturday.

According to Chester City Police, the crash occurred Saturday morning on the highway when officers stopped a vehicle near Exit 4.

Two officers were involved in the stop, and while they were outside their vehicles, another vehicle struck both stopped police cruisers.

Police said those who were hurt were taken to local hospitals, but police did not provide details on how many people were injured or the severity of their injuries.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the crash, but so far it's unclear if charges have been or will be filed. In announcing the crash, Chester City Police shared the message "do not drink and drive."
