Shuttles Replacing Delco Trolleys, Road To Close During SEPTA Construction

Riders on SEPTA's D1 and D2 trolley lines will need to plan for shuttle buses this week as crews replace a grade crossing and temporarily close part of Lansdowne Avenue.

Trolley Impacts

From Friday through Sunday, buses will replace D1 and D2 trolley service while SEPTA completes a full-depth renewal of the Lansdowne Avenue grade crossing.

Both lines connect to 69th Street Transit Center in Upper Darby and travel to different points in Delaware County.

Road Closure, Bus Detour

As part of the construction, Lansdowne Avenue will close for all vehicles between Garrett Road and Winding Way beginning Friday morning. The road is expected to reopen Monday evening.

In addition to the trolley changes, Route 115 buses will operate on a detour around the work zone for the duration of the project.

Construction

According to SEPTA, crews will reconstruct the crossing with a new asphalt surface and install new ties and rails.

The upgrades are designed to provide a smoother ride for vehicles crossing the tracks while eliminating cracks and potholes in the roadway, SEPTA says.
