Delco Collecting Donations For Martin Luther King Day Of Service

Items collected will be donated to Wesley House in Chester, which serves Delaware County residents in need of shelter.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — As Martin Luther King Jr. Day nears, you may be wondering how you can give back to the community.

Luckily, the Delaware County Council has coordinated a countywide initiative to give back in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

The county is collecting items to be donated to the Wesley House in Chester, which serves Delaware County residents in need of shelter.

Thirty-two kids, 20 women, and a man are living at Wesley House.

These residents need various items and toiletries.

Items needed for donation include:

  • shampoo
  • conditioner
  • soap, bath sponges
  • tooth-brushes
  • tooth-paste
  • razors
  • shower curtain liners
  • tear-free baby wash
  • children’s toothbrushes
  • diapers
  • wipes

Delaware Count residents can donate items as six county buildings through Jan. 17.

Items can be dropped off at the following locations:

  • Delaware County Government Center lobby, 201 West Front St., Media
  • Delaware County 911 Center, 370 Middletown Road, Media
  • Delaware County COSA, 206 Eddystone Ave., Crum Lynne
  • Children & Youth Services, 20 S 69th St., Upper Darby
  • Children & Youth Services, 1510 Chester Pike Suite 102 S, Eddystone
  • Fair Acres Geriatric Center, 340 Middletown Road

Council, with the help from our Emergency Services team, will deliver them to the Wesley House on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, Jan. 20.
