Delco Emergency Responders Training On Delaware River Wednesday Morning
The exercise is not related to any threats and is simply to keep responders prepared.

On Wednesday, police, emergency communications units, fire department, bomb units, marine units, emergency medical providers and the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office will be taking part in a homeland security exercise on the Delaware River in Delaware County, the DA's office said.
The DA's office also said SWAT teams will be responding to a simulated armed active threat on the river.
Officers involved in the engagement part of the exercise will be challenged to mitigate realistic threats while on land and on the water, the DA's office said.

Residents, businesses and boaters in the area may notice an increase law enforcement presence and access restrictions in the area during the training, the DA's office said.
The training exercise is being coordinated by the FBI’s Philadelphia Field Office along with local and county agencies as part of the FBI’s Maritime security program, the DA's office said.

The training is not in response to any known threats to the area, but is part of a combined effort by local, county, state and federal public safety agencies to be prepared.
The exercise will begin at 8 a.m. at the Tinicum Township Fire Department, 99 Wanamaker Ave., Essington.
