Delco Hosting Air Force Flag Raising Ceremony Friday

Veterans and active members of the U.S. Air Force are invited to join officials for a flag raising ceremony for the branch's anniversary.

MEDIA, PA — Delaware County officials Friday are hosting a U.S. Air Force flag raising ceremony Friday in honor of the branch's anniversary.

The ceremony will take place at 12:30 p.m. in front of the Courthouse, located at 201 W. Front St. in Media.

Delaware County’s Military and Veterans Affairs Director Colonel Arthur Lee Jenkins Jr. and County officials will be on hand for the raising of the U.S. Air Force flag.

The flag will be raised to commemorate the anniversary of the U.S. Air Force, established on September 18, 1947, and will fly from the flagpole in the courtyard of the Government Center and Courthouse complex throughout the week.

Delaware County honors all branches of the military throughout the year, inviting active military members and veterans to participate in flag-raising ceremonies.

Military flags will be raised later this year to commemorate the establishment of the U.S. Navy on Oct. 13, 1775, and the establishment of the U.S. Marine Corps on Nov. 10, 1775.

Earlier this year, the Army flag was raised in June, and the Coast Guard flag was raised in August.
