Delco Man Shot At Store Worker In New Jersey: Authorities

A 30-year-old Chester man was charged with attempted murder and more charges in New Jersey after authorities said he shot at a store worker.

CHESTER, PA — A Delaware County man is accused of shooting at an employee of a South Jersey store in mid-November, authorities said.

Jevonte F. Pressley, 30, of Chester, was taken into custody by Pennsylvania State Police after being stopped on Interstate 95 in Delaware County on Nov. 30.

He is charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, certain persons not to possess a firearm, terroristic threats, and theft by unlawful taking.

The charges stem from a Nov. 19 incident at Heritage's Convenience Store in West Deptford, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office (GCPO).

While robbing the 710 Delaware St. shop, Pressley brandished a black handgun and aimed it at the employee, authorities said. He discharged one bullet in the direction of the victim, who was fleeing the store, according to the GCPO.

Pressley, of Philadelphia, then ordered another Heritage worker to give him money from the cash registers and safe, officials said. The employee complied.

The suspect then left the store and drove out of the parking lot in a black sedan, the GCPO said.

Detectives pinpointed Pressley as the suspect by identifying his vehicle and through several other investigative methods, officials said.

Pennsylvania State Troopers recognized Pressley's vehicle one day later on Interstate 95 in Delaware County, authorities said. Officers pulled him over and took him into custody.

Pressley's car contained evidence linking him to the Heritage incident, which may assist in investigations linking him to additional robberies, the GCPO said.

The suspect was jailed in Delaware County, with extradition proceedings pending to facilitate his return to New Jersey.
