Delco Men Facing Murder Charges In February Shooting: DA

Two 19-year-old men are accused of murdering 22-year-old Donte Carlton Murray on Feb. 3 in Chester.

MEDIA, PA – Two 19-year-old Delaware County men are facing murder and related charges in connection with a fatal shooting in Chester back in February, the Delaware county District Attorney's Office and Chester officials said Thursday.

Breon Matthew Pringle, and Yordanie Radamas Camacho, both 19 and of Chester, are in custody and charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder, criminal homicide, possession of a weapon, person not to possess a firearm, and firearms not to be carried without a license offenses. The charges were filed in connection with the fatal shooting of Donte Carlton Murray, 22, of Chester, on Feb. 3, the officials said.

Pringle was taken into custody on Sunday, July 2. Camacho is being held on a detainer in prison on an unrelated firearms offense, officials said.

Chester Police responded to the 900 Block of Pennell Street for a subject, later identified as Murray, was shot. Murray was taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police recovered 12 shell casings at the shooting scene and turned them over to county officials for ballistic examination.

Investigators also learned that a gray, two-door, vehicle, possibly a Honda Accord, was in the area at the time of the shooting that sped away from the scene immediately following the shooting.

Then on Wednesday, Feb. 8, Chester Police officers found the vehicle matching that description at the 2600 block of Price Street.

There, police arrested Camacho on firearms violations as a result of him being in possession of a 9mm Ruger Model P95 with an obliterated serial number having an extended magazine that was loaded with 29 rounds with one in the chamber, authorities said. Police also found a black 9mm Beretta M9A1 in the rear seat cushion where Pringle had been seated. When police found the gun, Pringle fled the scene on foot and a warrant for his arrest was filed, authorities said.

Ballistics exams later determined that the five 9mm casings found at the homicide scene were fired from Camacho’s 9mm Ruger, authorities said.

As a result of witnesses’ testimony and confirmed identification of the shooters, video forensics and other ballistics evidence, Pringle and Camacho were charged with first-degree murder and related charges. Both remain in custody at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility, authorities said.

“I want to commend the work of Chester Detective David DeFrank and CID Detective Vincent Ficchi whose investigation led to the apprehension of these dangerous individuals who have no regard for human life,” Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan said. “We will continue to aggressively pursue violent criminal and work with our partners in law enforcement and the Chester Police to arrest and prosecute individuals who engage in gun violence and have a senseless disregard for the safety of our children and neighbors.”

“Detectives in both the Chester Police Department and Criminal Investigation Division worked tirelessly on this investigation to bring the actors in this case before the court,” Chester Police Chief James E. Nolan IV said. “We hope the prosecution will bring some closure to the family of Donte Murray.”
