Delco Police Who Saved Lives With Narcan Honored Friday
Since 2014, more than 900 people in Delaware County have been revived by police officers carrying the opioid overdose-reversing drug.

Law enforcement officers in Delaware County who have saved lives using the opioid overdose-reversing drug Narcan were honored Friday for their efforts to help struggling residents get a second chance at life.
Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan and Delaware County Councilman Dave White, Co-Chairs of the Delaware County Heroin Task hosted a ceremony to honor police officers across the county for their heroic actions in saving lives with Narcan on Oct. 27 at the Drexelbrook.
Since the implementation of a county-wide law enforcement naloxone program in 2014, police officers in Delaware County have saved the lives of 921 residents who had become unresponsive after an opioid overdose.

The program has served as a model for other counties and states across the country.
The ceremony also featured four residents who were saved by police officers by the use of Narcan and are now in long-term recovery.
