Don’t Miss South Media Fire Company’s Open House on October 4

South Media Fire Company is hosting an Open House on Sunday, Oct. 4, at its station from 11 am to 2 pm.

South Media Fire Company will host an open house on Sunday, October 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its station, 535 Washington Ave., Media, PA 19063. Residents can meet local firefighters, explore the station, climb aboard the trucks and watch live demonstrations, including the Jaws of Life and CPR/AED. Guests can also suit up in firefighting gear, grab a hose and try out firefighting equipment. Free food and beverages will be available.

Additionally, the open house will give families a chance to learn essential fire prevention and safety tips and discover ways to get involved with South Media Fire Company. Information about volunteer opportunities will be available for those interested in serving their community.

“We’re excited to open our doors and allow the community to meet our firefighters, see our equipment and learn more about what we do,” said Chief Max Hopkins.

This community event is held during Fire Prevention Week, October 4-10, and emphasizes the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) theme, “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging is a Superpower.”

The campaign encourages residents to practice safe charging habits when using lithium-ion battery-powered devices, which include everyday devices such as smartphones, laptops, power tools, and toys. Residents should use the charger that came with their devices, charge devices on a hard, flat surface and unplug them once fully charged.
