Beauty Gallery Debuts Paul MacWilliams’ American Stories June 14 & 16
“American Stories” exhibition kicks off June 14 – “Flag Day” – at Beauty Art, Antiques & Gifts when the collection of nearly 3 dozen works by master realist painter Paul MacWilliams opens with an Artist Reception from 4 to 9 p.m. The keystone of the exhibition is a pair of 50 x 70 inch oil-on-linen paintings depicting a bird’s eye view of Independence Park in 2011, and the Pennsylvania Statehouse in 1776. In addition to the opening reception, MacWilliams will be at Beauty’s gallery on Saturday June 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to talk with folks about his paintings, his research and his 40-plus years of painting experiences.
“The locations that Paul MacWilliams paints are warmly familiar: Independence Hall, a Lancaster County field, an octagonal schoolhouse, a fruit stand in the Italian Market, the “Rocky” steps, Headhouse Market, the Waterworks, Logan Circle, to name several,” says gallery owner Paula Jackson.

His “Pennsylvania Statehouse in 1776” painting stuns most people by initially puzzling them, and then intriguing them with its detail and depictions of life at the time of America’s founding, she adds. The painting illustrates many scenes, and MacWilliams can entertain and educate using the painting to tell stories about life at that time and the diverse participants of American history.
