The event is a fundraiser for The Media Theatre's mission of music theatre education as several pop/ rock performers over the years have won Tony Awards for their Broadway musicals (some based on their hit songs). The One Song Rock Festival continues the tradition of finding new rising talent that may, someday, have their own Broadway show based on their own music.
