Shannon Hayes - Unraveling Consumerism

Transition Town Media will host a special talk by Shannon Hayes on Monday, January 30 at 7:00 PM at the Providence Friends Meeting, 105 N. Providence Rd (Rt. 252), Media, PA.  Unraveling Consumerism: Blending her characteristic story telling, unique farm humor, and her uncanny knack for stirring up trouble, Hayes examines the history of consumerism in America, how it played out in the household, the effects it has had on our food system and culture, and how we can recover our households, our communities, our ecosystem and our country.

Shannon Hayes is the author of Radical Homemakers, The Grassfed Gourmet, The Farmer and the Grill, and Long Way on a Little (forthcoming). She hosts grassfedcooking.com, blogs for Yes! Magazine and at ShannonHayes.info, and works with her family raising grassfed meat on Sap Bush Hollow Farm in Upstate New York.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door and can be purchased at http://shannonhayes.eventbrite.com. For more information, contact TransitionMedia@yahoo.com.
