Wednesday, February 15th
7:00—8:30 pm
Presented by SRV’s Assistant Head Lauren de Moll
(Based on a presentation she made at the national conference of the Network of Progressive Educators in Chicago last fall.)
SRV was founded as a progressive elementary school in 1929, and Grace Rotzel was Principal from 1929-1967. Grace was a powerful leader and advocate for children and progressive practices. (“Grace,” the Grace Rotzel Building, was named for her.)
Lauren will explain the basic principles of Grace’s progressive education philosophy, and give examples of how they are actualized every day at SRV. Then she will show how these principles and practices are still relevant in the 21st century. Parents will be invited to name their questions and concerns, and together, we will decide, “What Would Grace Say?”
