Get Out: Valentine’s 2nd Saturday, Feel the Love 5K

Check out these picks for things to do this Valentine's weekend in the greater Media Patch area.

It’s Thursday, and the pressure is on to figure out what to do this Valentine’s weekend. Allow Patch to come to the rescue. There are plenty of fun and romantic things going on all weekend long to keep you, and your sweetheart, busy.

 

1. Media Arts Council 2nd Saturday

Where/When: Downtown Media, Saturday, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Why Go: It’s a perfect way to spend a date this Valentine’s weekend. Grab a bite to eat at one of Media’s many restaurants, while enjoying the art, live music and evening shopping along State Street. 2. The Big Band Sweethearts Dance

Where/When: , Friday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: The John Hoey Orchestra is swinging into town for a night of nostalgic fun with dinner and dancing.

3. The Last 5 Years

Where/When: The , Feb. 9-27, varies show times

Why Go: It’s a play about love and it opens, appropriately enough, Valentine’s weekend. The Last 5 Years is a classic boy-meets-girl tale, “fueled by the energy passion, and humor of Tony-winning composer Jason Robert Brown's unique melodies… and is a moving portrait of two people fighting the universal struggle for love.” For a complete overview of the production, visit the

4. Feel the Love 5K

Where/When: Coopertown Elementary School in Bryn Mawr, Saturday, Registration begins at 2 p.m., and the race is at 3:30 p.m.

Why Go: It’s an enjoyable way for runners to keep up training during the freezing winter months. Couples will run the race in opposite directions, and scores depend on the couples’ final times. Afterwards, toast to your sweetheart for putting in a good winter workout at the post-race after-party at Kelly’s Bar on Lancaster Ave. The race is sponsored by , which has a location in Media.

5. Winter Book Sale

Where/When: The Granite Run Mall, Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Why Go: If you’re not in the mood for a big day or night out this Valentine’s weekend, curl up with a good book, for less. Used and new-condition books will be on sale. Hardbacks will go for as little as a buck. Proceeds benefit the .

Pricing: Prices will vary, but hardbacks are available for $1 and paperbacks for $0.50.
