Hazmat Teams Investigating Gas, Fuel Odors In Delaware County

There have been 25 separate reports from 25 separate locations, mostly in western Delco. Some residents are reporting headaches.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Hazardous Materials Units in Delaware County are investigating numerous reports of fuel and gas odors in the county, officials said.

Delaware County Emergency Services said hazmat crews are out working with local responders, state officials, and industry refineries to find out what is causing the odors.

Odors were first reported to 911 at about 10 a.m. Friday, the county said.

While no one has been reported injured, some have reported getting headaches, officials said.

According to officials, there have been 25 separate reports from 25 separate locations, mostly in the western area of the county.

Various businesses closed and the Chester Charter School had an early dismissal due to the odor.

There is no word on what spurred the odor to be detected in various areas of the county, officials said.
