Maris Grove Awards More Than $156,000 in Scholarships to Students
At the event, 26 graduating high school seniors were awarded $6,000 scholarships.

Maris Grove, an Erickson Living retirement community in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, held its annual Scholar Awards Ceremony on May 20. At the event, 26 graduating high school seniors were awarded $6,000 scholarships. In addition, the community gave out an additional $6,000 in Named Scholarships.

The Scholar’s Program is funded by the residents of Maris Grove to support high school students employed on campus who have shown commitment to serving the Maris Grove community. Qualifications include working 1,000 hours at Maris Grove’s Dining Services during their junior and senior years in high school.

Speakers at the ceremony included Class of 2018 Scholar Award recipient Casey Kohlbrenner, Director of Dining Services Joe Guidetti, former Scholar Award winner Kyle O’Donnell, and Resident Services Coordinator Kim Perri, who was one of the first Scholar Award recipients. Also, parents Joseph Rosetta, father of 2017 Scholar Award recipient Hunter, and Bob Freney, father of 2017 award recipient Tom, gave remarks on how much the scholarship meant to their family.
“Scholarships are often the key to the door of opportunity. The residents of Maris Grove have donated generously for 12 years to this cause, and close to $1 million worth of awards have been given to high school staff,” said Philanthropy Director Barbara Burri. “The students and their parents are forever grateful.”
