Maris Grove Employees Build Skills and Earn College Credit at Cheyney University

Maris Grove partnered with Cheyney University to provide a for-credit Culinary Hospitality Course for Maris Grove employees. Five employees enrolled in the class, including Line Cooks Keyon Emmons-Womack, Tanera Knox, William Precha, and Deshawn Watson and Assistant General Manager Matt Green -- who has since been promoted to Restaurant General Manager.

The 40-hour hands-on course taught by Cheyney University Professor Chef Christine Neugebauer focused on menu-planning principles, food service operations, food production, sanitation, and service. Course highlights included preparing fresh tilapia from the school’s fish farm, opportunities to practice advanced cooking techniques and personalized feedback from Chef Neugebauer in a small class setting. Maris Grove’s Tuition Assistance Program covered most of the cost of the class.
