Media Police Put Late-Night Park Goers On Notice

Police said people who are hanging out at borough playgrounds and fields late at night have been causing major problems.

MEDIA, PA – Media Borough Police are putting late-night park goers on notice after "numerous investigations and arrests."

In a social media post made Tuesday, Jul 18, police said they will begin strictly enforcing the Borough's Ordinances regarding the operational hours of Media Elementary School's Scott-Lowrie Playground and Barrall Field.

"Over recent weeks and months, the behavior of certain individuals at the Media Elementary Scott-Lowrie Playground and Barrall Field has resulted in numerous investigations and arrests for serious offenses to include Aggravated Assault," police said. "As your police department, it is our responsibility to maintain order and ensure the safety of residents and visitors."

Police are reminding residents that both the playground and field are open from 9 a.m. to dusk. The field, police said, may be use under lights until 10 p.m. with a valid permit, however.

Additionally, police said the borough's curfew will become more strongly enforced as a result of the recent incidents.

"The Curfew for individuals under 18 years of age is 10pm-5am Monday through Thursday and 11pm-5am Friday, Saturday and Sunday," police said.
