Ohio-based applied science and technology development company Battelle is offering mask decontamination to local health care workers

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Health care workers in Delaware County can now get their N95 masks decontaminated thanks to effort from an Ohio-based company.

A site in Glen Mills will handle masks from participating hospitals in the Philadelphia region.

In the decontaminating process, masks are put in a cleaning chamber with vaporized hydrogen peroxide for three-and-a-half hours and are then aerated for three to four hours.

The masks are then sealed and returned to the hospitals. Each participating hospital gets its own masks back.

Battelle is providing the N95 decontamination services to healthcare professionals free of charge, after being awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide N95 decontamination at no charge.

The service is provided exclusively for healthcare professionals who qualify and register.
