New Micro-Hospital Set To Open Soon In Delco

ChristianaCare has planned multiple micro-hospitals for the region since Crozer Health's collapse.

ASTON, PA — ChristianaCare expects to open a micro-hospital in Aston soon, filling part of the void left by the collapse of Crozer Health and its Delaware County hospitals.

The 20,000-square-foot emergency department will include 10 emergency-care beds, a 10-bed inpatient unit and diagnostic services.

The hospital on the first floor is expected to open in June, while the second-floor outpatient unit is scheduled for an October opening, a ChristianaCare spokesperson told Patch.

Last year, regional health care giant ChristianaCare successfully bid $50.3 million to acquire facilities from Crozer Health, which recently went bankrupt and shut down multiple Delco hospitals.

The Aston Campus will become ChristianaCare's second micro-hospital to open since the acquisition. The first opened in West Grove, while a third is slated to begin operating next year in Springfield.
