New Year's Day Crash In Delco Hurts 2 State Troopers, 3 Civilians
Two Pennsylvania State Police Troopers and three civilians were hurt in a New Year's Day crash on Interstate 95 in Delaware County.
CHESTER, PA — A crash involving three vehicles, including a Pennsylvania State Police vehicle, left five people hurt, one of whom was seriously injured, on New Year's Day in Delaware County.
The incident began at about 3:21 a.m. on Monday when two state police troopers were helping a disabled Dodge Challenger on Interstate 95 south in Chester City.
While assisting the disabled vehicle and its driver, the troopers' vehicle was struck by an Acura TL from behind.

The crash caused the troopers' vehicle to strike the Challenger.
All lanes of Interstate 95 south were blocked due to the crash.

The troopers, who were in their vehicle at the time of impact, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at a local hospital and later released.
The Acura's driver, Ryan Franklin, 21, of Chester, and one of its passengers, 20-year-old Joshua Royals of Upper Chichester, suffered were taken to Crozer Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
A third occupant of the Acura, Isaiah Royals, 17, of Upper Chichester, was taken to Christiana Hospital for serious injuries.
The Challenger's driver was not in his vehicle when the impact occurred and was not injured.
Interstate 95 south was completely closed for about five hours due to the crash.
Police have not released information on any potential charges related to the crash.
