Penncrest’s Football Season From a Different Perspective

The Penncrest football team has yet to score a point this season.

But from a different perspective, things appear different, especially to one opposing coach.

"I thought Penncrest played hard the whole night; they got after it and 23-0 is not a route," Conestoga coach John Vogan said. "We scratched and clawed for every yard we got against them. I think Penncrest and what [head coach] Rick [Stroup] is doing shows they’re on the right track. They came in ready to play and they’re going to win some games before it’s all over.

"They were good kids and they have a lot of things going for them. I know they haven’t scored a point this year, and I know it’s frustrating, but they are moving the ball up and down the field. [Lions’ quarterback] Shane Donnelly is a big kid and he throws the ball very well. Look at that team and it’s sophomores and juniors learning a whole new system. It’s going to take some time, but 80 percent of that team is underclassmen, and they’re going to get better. Rick Stroup does a great job and they did a lot of very good things."
