Rose Tree Media School District is proud to announce the 2018 Inductees for its Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame. To kick off Homecoming Weekend festivities, honorees were recognized in a ceremony on Friday, October 12th, at Penncrest High School. After the ceremony, inductees had the opportunity to address the freshmen and sophomore classes, followed by their recognition at an all-school pep rally and the Homecoming Football game that evening against Ridley at 7 P.M. at Louis Scott Stadium.

Penncrest High School, Class of 1988, Ivy Chanel Hewlett-Myers is an international entertainer and artist whose musical talent was discovered and developed as a member of the Penncrest High School community. Ivy has performed for President Clinton, Tony Blair, and other dignitaries around the world; she has worked with numerous award-winning artists and producers and is a sought-after vocal coach. Ivy Chanel Hewlett-Myers’ heritage is a huge part of who she is as an artist, and she represents her Native American and African American roots. “There’s so much more to our story, past and present. I wish to be a conduit for greater awareness and understanding using my God given talent.” -Ivy Chanel.

Darryl Martin - Penncrest High School, Class of 1995: Darryl Martin, a 1999 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, is a decorated Commanding Officer. Commander Martin has served numerous squadrons during his career, including VAW-125 “Tigertails”, VAW-120 “Greyhawks”, and VAW-123 “Screwtops”. His service included deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve in 2016, where he commanded the squadron to a successful combat deployment. A native of Media, Darryl Martin has accumulated over 2,300 flight hours and over 400 successful carrier landings. His personal awards include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Strike Flight Air Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit, campaign, and service awards.
Bill Tyson - Penncrest High School, Class of 1983: Bill Tyson has served the community since graduating from Penncrest in 1983. Mr. Tyson has held leadership and board positions with over two dozen community and government organizations in the Rose Tree Media community. He is a life member of the Media Fire Company, a member of the Community Action Agency of Delaware County, a board member of the Delaware County Workforce Development Board, the Domestic Abuse Project, and the Rocky Run YMCA. As a member of the board for Media Theater, the Media-Upper Providence Free Library, and the Media Rotary Club, he has continually worked to enhance the Rose Tree Media community.

Jamison Uhler - Penncrest High School, Class of 1993: Jamison Uhler was named “Florida News Anchor of the Year” in 2013 by the Society of Professional Journalists. He is a six-time Emmy Award winner and has been honored by the Associated Press for his investigative and feature reporting. In 2012 and 2014 his 5 P.M. newscast was given one of the industry’s highest honors, an Edward R. Murrow Award for “Best Newscast”. In addition to his on-air work, Jamison Uhler works to combat human trafficking as a member of the board of the global non-profit Redefining Refuges.
