Rose Tree Place Offers Complimentary Classes for Seniors

Watermark University Classes Enhance the Mind, Body and Spirit

Media, Pa. –Rose Tree Place, a Watermark Retirement Community located in Media, offers residents and area seniors more than 70 class and program options this winter and spring through Watermark University. With topics ranging from meditation and low impact fitness to classes focused on music, art, current events and even topics such as American National Parks, the Spring 2018 semester offers participants boundless opportunities for mind, body and spiritual enhancement, plus friendship, fun and meaningful connections.

These classes are made available to Rose Tree Place residents and Delaware County seniors because of the Rose Tree Place residents, associates, loved ones and guest experts who share their time and talents. The results from this true community endeavor are as impressive as the long and varied list of course offerings that emerge each semester.

“The foundation of Watermark University is to provide meaningful opportunities to learn and grow, resulting in a life of overall well-being,” said Rose Tree Place Community Life Director Karen Holahan. “Research shows that learning and keeping our mind active and sharp supports healthy aging.”

Some of the more popular courses provide residents and area seniors the opportunity for in-depth exploration of nearby towns and landmarks. For example, on Monday, Feb. 12 at 3 p.m., interested participants can learn about the history of Ridley Creek State Park, which encompasses more than 2,606 acres of Delaware County woodlands and meadows. In addition to learning about the small 18th Century village that developed around the site of a mill within park boundaries, participants will learn about the park’s wildlife and taste raw honey from the park.

The WU Spring 2018 semester runs from January through April at Rose Tree Place. Some courses run on a weekly basis while others are offered once or as a short series or excursion. Most classes are complimentary and all require an RSVP in advance.
