Rose Tree Students Follow the Voyage
Reading Program established by the Massachusetts Maritime Academy
Fourth and fifth graders at Rose Tree Elementary participated in Follow the Voyage, a reading program established by the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay, MA. Christine Nolan, RTE’s Office Clerk, is the mother of 4th class cadet Steven Nolan, a student of Maritime Transportation at the Academy, who is embarking on his first term at sea. Fourth and fifth grade students at RTE followed the travels of the Training Ship Kennedy, read maritime-related books, calculated the distance of voyages, and studied vocabulary related to seafaring. Students and staff also celebrated Island Days, Fridays in which the ship visited the islands of Aruba, Barbados and the Bahamas.
